About Swine Flu
Swine influenza refers to flu cases that are caused by viruses that are developed within populations of pigs. The viruses are referred to as Swine influenza viruses (SIV). Pigs can harbor influenza viruses adapted to humans and others that are adapted to birds, allowing the viruses to the exchange of genes and create a pandemic strain.
